Spiceware, a cloud data protection SaaS company, announced this month that it has received the CSA STAR (CSA Security, Trust & Assurance Registry) international standard cloud security certification.

Founded in 2013 by the Cloud Security Alliance, the Security Trust Assurance and Risk (STAR) registry encompasses key principles of transparency, rigorous auditing, and cloud security and privacy best practices. CSA STAR is a cloud security certification operated by the British Standards Institute (BSI) and the Cloud Security Alliance (CSA). Only companies that have obtained ISO/IEC 27001 (Information Security Management System) are entitled to apply for certification, and they must meet all the cloud security principles known as the CSA Cloud Controls Matrix (CCM). In particular, it is well known that the objectivity and reliability of this certification are very high since it requires a rigorous third-party assessment of up to 300 items such as security and technology capacity. As a result, both domestic and overseas CSPs and MSPs, have also received or are preparing for the CSA STAR certification. The company’s listing can be found on the CSA STAR Registry here: https://cloudsecurityalliance.org/star/registry/spiceware-co-ltd/services/spiceware/

When financial firms choose to adopt CSA STAR-certified cloud services, the firms are exempted from the basic security assessment for cloud safety by the Financial Security Institute, thereby streamlining the adoption process. In addition, since it standardizes the security management capabilities of cloud service providers, it can be used as an objective reference index for companies considering the procurement of security solutions.

The company will continue its efforts to help enterprises in adopting the cloud and using secure services. “Spiceware’s excellence has been recognized through acquisition of the CSA STAR and we will continue our efforts to meet global standards by acquiring credible global security certifications,” said Keunjin Kim, Founder and CEO of Spiceware.

In addition to CSA STAR, Spiceware has proven its cloud data security competencies by securing the most prestigious international certifications in the information security field, such as ISO/IEC 27017 (Information Security Controls for Cloud Service Providers and Customers) and ISO/IEC 27018 (Personal Information Security Controls for Cloud Service Providers).
